Washington DC Thursday August 5, 2010 {Day two}

Day two started early for Scott. He left in the morning about 6:30 am and stood in line for tickets to the Bureau of Printing and Engraving. He also got our tickets to the Washington Monument that we did not get to use that night. The girls and I got ready in the morning and meet up with daddy. We had morning tickets to the printing and engraving. The girls were thinking they had so much money there they would not miss this case. :)

Your height in shredded money.

To me they are priceless.

We liked the new $100 dollar bill. We plan on starting to collect them. :)

Our next stop that we took pictures was the National Air and Space Museum. We did actually stop at the Holocust museum for a quick look around. They had an area for kids that told the story of a boy named Daniel.

This was the actual plane the Wright Brothers flew. It sure made me thankful for the progress we have made since then. They were true pioneers to dream of things like this.

This was Kate's pick to do. She really wanted to see the Declaration of Independence. We were not allowed to take pictures inside. We did purchase our own copy for her to study. I'm sure it will come in handy now that she is in Fifth grade. She came home today from school and said they have to learn it. Way to go Kate for thinking ahead.

Our next stop was the Natural History Museum. Katelyn took control of the camera and found many things to photograph. This was a favorite.

We did find something from Macon County North Carolina here. It was a small ruby.
Our second day ended with a rain showers and mommy getting a slight fever. It was a early night for the family to check in. We did however end up in a traffic jam or more like gridlock when we tried to go out of the city to do some shopping that night. It was not a good idea. We travelled a few blocks in about an hour and fifteen minutes. Had a close call with another car and made it back to the hotel safe. It was time to call it a night.
