Facebook

Surprise! I am back on facebook. A wise woman said once that she has a love hate relationship with facebook and I understand it now. I have "hated" facebook for the past 6 months. So you ask what has changed? I guess I have found peace.

Life is good

Happy Father's Day

We arrived home in time for a Father's day. We celebrated our dad with some meat and potatoes and CAKE. (PRO V1) Only the best for our dad. We love you Scott.

"Curtain call for drama camp"

Drama camp came to an end this past weekend. Katelyn had learned about silent films, choreographed dance, set design, costumes, sewing, and many other aspects. She did very well in her skit she performed with two others. She knew all her 32 lines. Her role was to be a skunk in a moral skit. The moral of her skit was to share. We were very proud of her as always. We even think she might have done some maturing over the last two weeks without mom and dad around. She made a friend named Taylor at camp who she exchanged phone numbers with. That is something new in our house. She called her as soon as we were home and talked on the phone to her for an hour. I remember those days. I will try to post her skit about sharing sometime.

TSA Bag check!

Ok, Ok! I know the rules. While going through security at Atlanta airport on our way to West Palm Beach the TSA agent wants to check my laptop bag. I was very confused but thought check whatever you like. The agent walks up to me and says in a serious voice "miss I don't know what kind of business you are in and I don't know what you do in your spare time but you are not allowed to travel with these." He pulls a pair of scissors from the laptop case. I thought to myself that is where I left those. He unfortunately was not thinking that. I told him I had no idea those were in there. He seemed to believe me. I told him they are not important and I can replace them. He asked me back "Do you plan to do any harm with these?" I immediately said no! Then he ran the bag again through the x ray machine and proceeded to put the scissors back in the bag and told me have a safe flight. I was surprised! I was off to FL with my scissors in the bag.

Drama camp gotcha moment

Kate was so excited last week to call me and tell me about the roles they got for the play Friday. I asked her what is her part? She replied that she was a dog and her part was to say "woof" once or twice. I thought for a moment on what to say...and went the proud mommy route. I told her she was gonna be the best dog anyone has ever seen and that her woof was going to be great. While I was telling her this she interrupted me and said "mom just kidding" She actually is skunk#2 and has like 30 lines to memorize. I had a gotcha moment. I guess the drama camp is working. She had me fooled.

Kate's camp days

Just a small update on Drama Camp for Katelyn. She seems to be having a wonderful time. I am excited to go see what she has been doing for the past week. We are done with the first week and are looking forward to the drama production this Friday night. Our trip down to FL will start Wednesday night and we will stay till Father's day Sunday. Kate has been having some "real drama" at camp with a girl who will remain unnamed. She has had to learn to deal with her bad attitude and negative influence. She has told Kate to "shut up" and tried to get her to flush her camp shirt down the toilet. She has even been disrespectful to camp leaders. I ask why is she still at camp? I had to sign a behavior contract that is definitely in violation of these things. I am looking forward to meeting this little girl and seeing things for myself. I am proud of Katelyn standing up for the right thing and not falling into negative behavior. I will update with pictures of camp soon.

Brains not muscles-funny story

So I was watching Nicole in the bath, something I do not do often now that she is eight and fully capable of taking a bath alone, but witnessed something funny. She squirted the shampoo onto her leg while sitting in the bath then put the shampoo bottle down and wiped it up with the other hand continuing to wash her hair. I was puzzled why she did that? She responded that I cannot squirt the shampoo bottle with one hand into the other hand because she is not strong enough. I just chuckled at the creative ways kids will find a way to make simple task work. It is a large full bottle of shampoo. I will be looking into getting her the pump kind soon.

Fly, Fly, Far from here...

Katelyn took a big step in life yesterday. She flew alone on a commercial airline down to FL. I walked her to her gate in Atlanta airport and said my goodbyes. Mommy was a wreak but she was as cool as a cucumber. She was well stocked with whatever she wanted to buy from the newsstand in the terminal. It was a quick decision to go to Drama Camp at our old high school Lake Worth Christian. The camp started June 7th and lasts for 2 weeks. I was not ready to leave for 2 weeks with her so we did the next best thing. We shipped her down to stay with my mom. She willingly took on the challenge to have only one granddaughter stay with her till we can come down as a family next week. She was a little unsure how she would do one on one. We are used to having them both together to entertain each other. The girls are special in their own ways and having only one on one really makes that evident in the day to day conversations. Nicole seems to talk more and likes to do her own thing in the house. I hope Kate is enjoying this time too. We shall see how the first day of drama camp goes.

Jodi shoots again and scores

These are a few of my favorite ones of Jodi's work again. I love them all! Thank you so much for capturing the girls for me to cherish forever.

Jenga

Nicole is concentrating....
She got a hard piece out!
She goes for another hard one....
Her plan was not successful, but mommy thinks she is the best Jenga player still.

"Honor students on board"

Cousin Cody is honored in chapel for gold eagle principal's award all 4 quarters! Way to go Cody
Katelyn is proud of her silver eagle principals award.
Nicole shows off her ribbon!
Kate has a big smile for mom and dad!
Was thinking about getting a bumper sticker saying "honor student on board" but decided to blog about it instead. I use to find parents with those stickers kinda tacky but now that I am one of those parents I see why they do it. I want the whole world to know that I am proud of our children. They work so hard doing their work with little effort put in by their parents. I guess that is why I am so proud. It really is their own work and dedication to school that earns them their grades.
